#1   A duck with guns??  Looks like a Loony Tunes character to me.  44 missions on this B-24H/J-FO/DT or H-25/401-CF and just enough to be seen to say 15AF

#2   Back end of an F-7B; surface looks pretty operational.

#3  A couple of Aussie RAAF types in typical tropical dress.  This at Fenton, northern Australia so it's probably 380th BG, still operational by the looks, but a completely anonymous field-stripped B-24D1.

#4   I'm no help here; the even tone make me think it might be a grey PFF.  Tom Brittan advises that this is a 449BG 716BS H or J which has not yet been identified

FIGHTIN' IRISH

#5   B-24L/M-FO

THE FLYING CABOOSE

#6   B-24J-FO with 46 missions

This MAY be 42-52046 459BG 757BS.  Credit Tom Brittan.  I show a different name for this serial although the same unit ident.

FOREVER AMBER

#7   Now this one was captioned as "General Acer's Machine"; who Acer was, where this was, and what the heck it says on the nose I don't know;  does anyone?

#8   These chaps couldn't even imagine what they were in for when they arrived in the combat zone.  Does the name Forth mean anything to anyone?

THE GHOST

#9   G.I. JINNY - once loved, now forgotten.  I think this is probably a LB-30 - everything visible fits, down to the D/F loop

#10   Another late war 15AF J/L-FO

#11  Chunky - or Rubenesque?  L/M FO by that Nav window

#12   Unlike most women - struck dumb!  J/L-FO

#13   Looks like 10AF insignia

#14   Pacific, 5BG I reckon

#15   see #121 below

#16   L/M-CO

#17   B-24J-CO

#18   reportedly taken at Darwin; fair chance it's a 90BG D/D1

#19   NMF H-DT 41-28***

#20   CONUS shot more than likely - NMF H-DT 41-28***; see #289 where it gained a name

#21  I don't know whether it's the artist or model - but, oh dear!  Suggested as a 389BG aircraft in the North African detachment September 1943.

#22   H-FO suggested as 464BG

IDENTIFIED

Thanks to Dave, the 455th BG Historia, this is now known to be B-24H-15-FO 42-52741 and named MAGNETIC MOLLY of 740BS

#23   Often used this looks like an H-FO

#24   Ford notch just visible

IDENTIFIED

Another courtesy of the 455th Historian, this is SLIM CHANCE, a B-24J-10-FO 42-51645 of 742BS

#25  B-24H-15 or later; could also be a B-24J/L/M (all manufacturers)

#26  This L/M-CO is probably 307BG; there is a whole series of what appear to be unfinished artworks which seem to be from the SPA - caught short by the unexpected sudden end to the war I guess

Additional comment from Pete Johnston:  This one WAS completed.  It was surrounded by a large red heart and the words THIS LOVE OF MINE were added.  Appears to have been 11BG but to date remains unidentified

#27   She's inside a heart and she's patting a ......what?

#28   That air scoop indicates that this is an F-7A, possibly 42-7****; certainly the artwork & mission board matches others in the Pacific area at this time

#29   Detail of #137 above

#30   L/M-CO

#31   There's that Ford notch

#32  Those black undersides suggest 308BG and a B-24L/M-CO.  Pete Johnston has found more photos of this and the name SOUTHERN COMFORT was added later.  It appears that the original panel exists today.

#33   Another of those partial 307BG pics - I think; last three may beging with 3

#34   Single pitot brace, HAD J-CO bomb scan window, those aerials - gotta be 42-100*** SPA - 7 or 13AF; believed to have been photographed on Saipan.  Pete Johnston suggests it may have been named PAPER DOLL and is probably from the 30th BG.

#35 Ford  Notch

#36  Notched CBI FO

#37

#38   B-24J-1/5-FO

#39   Possibly a B-24M-20+ (Ford V-screen)

#40  494BG suggested - Ford L/M

#41

IDENTIFIED

From Pete Johnston, this is THE LADY MARGARET, 868BS SB-24D 42040639

#42    Later this picked up the name TEMPTACIOUS and is an L/M-CO probably from 11BG 26BS.  Usually identified as 44-51515, I doubt this serial as the nav window should be the long rectangular "bay window" style

#43   B-24D   From Pete Johnston, this is almost certainly the 5BG TROUBLE MAKER, but serial remains unknown

#44   B-24J-CO or L-1-CO

#45

#46   8AF H-FO

#47   Only the Pacific put ball joints in Nav windows - B-24J 44-40***

#48   H-CF or DT - ETO mods barely visible

#49   B-24D/J-CO

#50   Pacific aerials again - SWP B-24D my estimate

#51   This one actually doesn't look like a B-24 panel - more likely B-26, possibly P-38

#52   Got your imagination handy?

#53   B-24J

#54   H-5/10-DT maybe

#55   13AF likely, looking at that serial block

#56

#57   Ford notch

#58   Reminiscent of those large late war 43BG artworks; B-24J-CO (Emerson) or L-1-CO.  Either the war finished too soon, this was all that was ever intended, or the aircraft was wrecked before the work was finished, as the name BEAUTIFUL DREAMER (as this is supposed to be - 43BG) was never painted on, because I have another photo of the aircraft salvaged with no addition to the artwork

#59   307BG?  B-24J-CO (Emerson) or L-1-CO

#60   B-24J-CO, evidently field stripped

#61   B-24D

#62   Pretty certainly 6AF B-24D and ASW aerials can JUST be seen

#63   Pacific aerials on a B-24D, but what the heck's the animal?  I though it might be a penguin, but that seems unlikely!!

#64  Ford

#65   Both Lucky Dog?

#66

#67  There is one unusual item to this L/M-FO - the drift sight has been moved to the right side of the Command Deck; this was usually re-positioned to the left side when the nav was moved out of the nose & the RO sat on the right

#68

#69   J-CF 44-10***; has been suggested should be called GIRL WATCHING

Tom Brittan suggests POSSIBLY 44-10489 SLEEPY TIME GAL 491BG 852BS.  Serial is quite possible with that Louisville Mod Centre job number 35-4.

#70   RB or CB-24D; no armament, no top turret

GO GETTIN' GAL

#71   H-FO, no 8AF armour but fish hook aerials

GOOD BYE PICADILLY

#72   L/M

GOOD PICKIN'S WANT SOME?

#73   All pretty useless, but they came connected; all unknown though the lower is an F-7 and the others are H-FO

#74   Gotta be a B-24G, meaning 15AF

THE GULF QUEEN

#75   Somehow I managed to read this as GWEN

#76   8AF and the attached serial has been decided to be incorrect - B-24J-CO/CF

HEAVENLY BODY

#77   B-24H-DT or CF

HEAVENLY BODY
